There’s a famous quote in the education world by George Evans, who said, “Every child can learn. Just not on the same day or in the same way." Although it may seem strange to describe my educational philosophy using another person’s words, I simply couldn’t have said it better! My career as a learner and educator is based on the idea that every child deserves a champion. I take a personal interest in ensuring that those around me are treated fairly and with kindness. This is the value system that forms the basis of my educational, and personal, philosophy. I believe the purpose of education is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that they will need to prepare them for whatever future they choose. Every child deserves to know that they can be successful, and it is my privilege to guide, support, and cheer for each one along the way. My goal is to provide students authentic learning opportunities in a positive and constructive environment which promotes collaboration, critical thinking, and student-centered learning. This philosophy directly impacts the way I view, plan, and prioritize the curriculum.
